Walk

Departure: 10h30AM maybe even 11AM ( I was stuck to my bed this morning)
Arrival: 1PM
Type: Walk.
Distance: 2.6Km (1.6Miles)
Gear: Blue Short, Blue shirt, underwear, belt, hat, keyset, camera, wallet.

No much. Alcanfores, 28, Larco as usual...got to the Parque Salazaar went to the mirador to watch the sea. A lot of tourists. I guess they are tourists because they are white and have back packs, cameras, sunglasses but for all I know they could be residents. ( I doubt it) Walked through the malecon as usual. I saw this little young woman in front of me who stopped to take a picture which reminded me I had the camera so I stopped to take the usual picture so you can see the visibility today. Very clear. Very blue. As usual a lot of froth on the sea. I wonder...why does the sea makes froth?

I kept walking and took the usual picture to see how clear the water was this morning. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 3 of transparency.....we can´t really see the pebbles....it takes this color...slightly pulling to green.

I got into the park sat at a bench but then I saw a huge flock of birds flying near the water and stood to take these pictures and videos because it´s an unusual event here in Miraflores. It´s a trivial event but it´s the first time I saw that. so I took my camera. And the flock was enormous. But now that I see the pictures I realize we can´t even see the damn sea birds! Well..we see like a black cloud...well, that´s it!

Here are the videos I took but we won´t see either. (I speak in French). I say that the flock is huge and that they might be following a fish bank, a shark bank or a group of whales...I first thought they where going north but I corrected in a second video saying that they seemed to be heading south at a very slow pace. Maybe some fish migration due to the change of season.

So I sat there thinking, keeping an eye on the huge flock of birds. (It disturbed me..I don´t know why) I saw that "regular" walking around the zone. That little woman was sitting behind me. Two other supposed tourists where sitting on another bench. And people just kept passing by, as usual. All sorts of people. It was sunny, as I said..and it was getting very hot. Lucky I had my hat! This man approached me to sell me a popular mint candy brand that comes in a tube and that react with another popular soda brand. But this were of the fruity kind which makes me wonder.."do only the mint ones react with the soda?" Anyway, I didn´t buy them. I might have seen that man before. I kept thinking. I was thinking about local cultural events and royalties. As a matter of fact, there´s a little opened amphitheater on the other shore, in the parque del Amor.

Anyway I stood up again because the birds got closer and wanted to take a better shot. I was staring at them with my hands on the parapet as a tourist asked me for directions with a map on her hand. North Americans I think. I pointed with my finger the street they where looking for (They name of the street on the map was different from the one that appears in Google Maps...maybe an old map)..they seemed lost...went in the wrong direction because there is no pedestrian crossing in that zone...you have to go under the bridge to get to the other side of the road. They where confused so I got back to them and showed them with my finger, again, the path under the bridge. Why not puting a pedestrian crossing there on the Malecon de la Reserva?

I went to the Intihuatana place and took this picture of the yellow flowers they recently planted. THAT´s what they were up to this last month.

Then, I took the picture of that hedge just on the side. Last month I took a picture of it because it was in bloom. It was full of fushia flowers. Remember that picture? A couple of days ago, they cutted all the flowers! Trimmed to the height of the parapet! Seems strange. Why would they do that? Now it looks like a dry hedge. It´s not the first time I seen them do that. near Larcomar, they often trim the bushes so they stay at the same height of a brick wall. I´m not such a fan of bush trimming. I´d rather see things grow healthy naturally and develop in their full strengh...with as little trimming as possible.

(AFTER PICTURES)

I went under the bridge where two girls where taking pictures. Came out through the stairs as another woman was taking a picture in my direction. Maybe she actually took a picture of me. Anyway, I posed...I smiled and raised the hand.

I kept walking. Along the Club Terrazas, on 28. I noticed these three young girls coming out of that backpackers. I stared at the kiosk. Kept walking. I smelled a strong smell at that corner at the veterinarian. Maybe dog smell. Got to the crossing of Larco. The choice was easy...the light was green.

Walked on the Boulevard as a runner passed in front of me and got into an e-shop. He smelled like hell....like rank dried sweat.

There where no cars at the next crossing. I went to the other sidewalk and got my way back to the building safe and sound.
