Morning walk

Departure time: Around 9am. (Again! I´ll try to mark the time)
Arrival: Around 12:00am
Distance: 3.8Km
Type: Walk

Same as yesterday exept that I was wearing a white short sleaved Frank Olivier cotton shirt and that I was wearing that white polyester hat instead of the cap. I also packed a shopping bag in my backpack because I though I needed one. And this time I had my cellphone. (Alcatel: OneTouch)

I saw a neighbour of mine leaving the building with a dog going through San Martin. A mature lady crossed in front of me, I walked behind her in Alcanfores. The hole at the corner has widened. They were still working on it.

Paintors where painting in grey the old salad restaurant I talked about yesterday. It´s nice place for a restaurant. No pitched roof though. One of the workers seemed old, exausted and worn out.

I arrived to Larco crossed and followed to 28 de Julio. A familly with 2 young kids where blocking the way. A guy with hort trimmed hair and a couple of tattoos on his leg told me "disculpame".

I went on and stopped to take this picture of this tree in 28 de Julio. Yet another type of pine for my botanical list.

One the other sidewalk there was a construction work I haven´t talked about yesterday. This big yellow UNICON truck with some sort of big arm/crane. I have no clue what that is. Maybe they use it to pump concrete up there.

I went on. There was this newpaper kiosk with a few posters.        - Luna; A lost shnawzer.                                            - El "país paralizado". Yeah. Apparently P.P.K. is angry with this situation. He said: "Déjennos trabajar!" when the Chincheros airport was canceled. (Ecology).                                            - A book or a magazine of National Geographic about the Gran Muralla de China. "Ahora es tuya".
I went on. A big opened "double decker" bus pased. It´s for tourists. They often put some adds in there. A gipsy Flamenco festival in ASIA. Yesterday. There´s a big torrero so I guess it was a spanish themed festival. It´s not my thing...corridas and stuff.

This big truck at the corner in front of club terrazas. Same construction site as yesterday. As a matter of fact, at that exact time another "volquete came out of the site" charged with gravel. They dig the hole, with a retroexcavadora and extract the dirt, rocks and gravel with the volquetes. All day long. The volquetes come and go from the site to the landfill. That process is very noisy. The contemporary "miraflores building" usually comes with one underground level for car parking. They are allmost all the same. They always forget the pitched roof.

There was this bus not so far. Tourists probably.

Ok. On the other side of the valley we can see "andenes". These andenes are very old. We could grow food there. Gardens. But the whole part is invaded by this creeping crawling wild weeds. When I took the pictures they where pulling a garden hose. You can probably see it.

Here´s the same construction site as yesterday. At Juan Fanning corner. It also has that same arm/crane. I think they are injecting concrete for the fundations. And this two concrete mixer trucks on which we can reed CON. What does CON stand for? CONcrete I guess. In french it means "a womans vagina" (This meaning is a bit antiquated) or a popular insult equivalent to "asshole"..a creep...a stupid person. It´s quite vulgar so don´t use it.

On the top of the stairs with get to the Club Terrazas grid. There´s this dead vegetation that needs to be removed and disposed off. Which brings my to the question. What should we do with this "maleza". That´s how it´s called here in Peru. Traditionally we burn it and I guess they do that. But with this whole, "carbon footprint" and "global warming" issue it becomes a problem. However there might be a sustainable modern way to dispose of it. Today electric shredders or wood shippers do exist. The waste is then converted into compost. I don´t know of anny other way. I guess the Municipality of Miraflores don´t own these machines yet because they are expensive and imported.

This two pictures show the slope invaded by this creeping crawling wild weeds. My idea is that we should stop irrigating it. It will dry. We will remove it and be disposed off with the method we talked about. Those slopes would then become the dry sandy beige it originally was. Some people would even after promote the installation of some cultivated "andenes" following the idea of one of the previous picture.

There was this bus accross the street. There´s a parking there and tourists often disembark there. They look at the sea, the Intihuatana, that statue...and have a bite at the "Beso Frances" (non vegan), a creperie just behind the bus.

A little army of Miraflores gardeners was working on that little garden in front of us, with wood barrows, a motocultor and shovels. There used to be flowers there, last week, this morning they removed all vegetation, plowed and left opened dirt.

I stood there for a wild as a young native american jogger passed in front of me and headed to the bridge. I went under the bridge.

Under the bridge there where a few people. I took this picture; A light mist. I went to see the sea at the Mirador. I was about to follow the Malecon but an idea in my head changed my route. I stopped there, thought for a while and I came back going upsteam along the Huatica valley.

This banner is a reminder for the municipality that we have to pay the taxes before the 28 of february. I already knew that. Soon enough. I´m not a big fan of the Municipality of Miraflores. I find them too permisive. The whole municipality manages to keep the city tidy, the garden clean but I don´t know...

I turned at San Martin. This is the tipical work of the municipality. They stick these "Clausurado" stickers. Usually because they infracted a municipal "reglamento". I don´t know what was there on the first floor. A day care center maybe.

There was this little wrapp for Field soda crackers. I picked it up. Then I saw more garbage in the street. I wasn´t going to start picking up all the garbage in the street.

There´s this old house in San Martin. It was adandonned and derelict. A while ago they painted it and now they placed construction material all around. There a bags all along. So I guess they where/are planning to renovate it. And they are selling it.

There are this stickers on the pavement. I guess it´s a car that has been towed out and taken to the "deposito".

On the other side of the street. I saw they painted a couple of graffittis white to cover them. "The eye that is everywhere". I guess they painted it when they painted the Club Terrazas graffittis. Probably a work of the municipality.

That blue store overthere used to be an electronic store/repair workshop and that brick one was the "Pub Cubano" for a while. They closed them both a while ago.

There was this burger store here. It´s closed for renovation, gladly.

It´s going to be Lima´s Municipal elections. There´s this big banner..well the banner speaks for itself. Masías? That´s jewish name, right? Haha!

Far away there´s this big construction site. I got rid of the bracker wrap in a garbage can, on Larco and tt that corner I topped with that woman of my building. I said "hola" and talked with as we walked along San Martin. She was bringing supplies to her apartment. We split because I still had stuff to do elsewhere.

They where working at the feet of a tree there.

That´s a close up of the famous construction work that´s bothering us. It´s unusual how decorative the construction wall is. With a green leaves mural.

There´s this banner saying that car alarm will be sanctionned by a strong fine. And in my zone, it´s all day long. The same car alarm sound for year. The "Oh Yeah" one. Should we do something about that? A neighbour of mine has been complaining about it.

There is this house that has been clausurada by the municipality.

In avenida reducto there where these vans. It´s curious. There was this veterinarian van behind.

And that´s the good old tipical Miraflores garbage truck. I think I saw that German dude again in bike. I crossed the "sanjon" and arrived to my destination. The mercado orgánico de reducto. In the reducto park there was music. Guitar with a guy singing in spanish. I heard the words and it stroke me but I don´t remember now. Got passed the eggs stand and started think about my purchases. I went to different stands. A bunch of fruits, ingredients to make a salad, ingredients for the dressing and a bag of potatoes for the ocopa I´m planning to make. As usual, there was that same blonde guy..mostly peruvians and a few Europeano-Caucasian people I guess. That woman with freckles and long blond curly hair and that other dark haired one with freckles. I might have seen them before. I do remember freckles. A guy with long dark hair and sunglasses seemed to mumble something at me. I don´t remember. I usually don´t pay much attention to people who don´t follow the basic protocolar social human rules. You know: Hello? Who are you? And then sentences with sujet/verbe/complement in a understandable context. Sometimes I seem to hear people saying stuff to me. I don´t know but they sometimes seem to mumble me bits of sentences that I don´t understand at all. I also ate there. I had a slice of vegetable quiche, a glass of chicha and a bread at the vegan/local/organic stand. I talked to the women of the stand because I wanted some information about similar markets and stores. Anyway, I sat there in front on the wall by myself in the Sun, took a time to relax and think a bit about my purchases. There was that same little woman at the same place in the grass. Also a regular. I decided to go back home with my backpack full.

As I came back I took this picture of this sticker on a garage door. There are two of those. I don´t know what this is. It´s either a Scuba diving aficionado(a) or somesort of semiprivate Scuba Diving local. I like scuba diving..you know..floating in the water...looking at the fish..the algaes...the sea life...but we don´t really have good diving sites in Miraflores, Barranco, Chorrillos. It´s a wavy shore with no real reef of rocky surface. Maybe it can be interresting in Chorillos...but that a little bike trip, the scuba session and the way back. I´d came back exausted losing 5 kilos in the expedition. And I currently don´t have the budget to afford the material. You know fins, googles, the schnorkel...and maybe the wetsuit. Allthough in summer it´s not really necessary..or is it?

I came back behind a woman. Then I saw this other woman come out of a building. I think she was that same woman I saw yesterday. I see so manny faces that it´s hard to remember.

Voila!
